Hybrid hurdy-gurdy

«An elsewhere woven into the already ancient history of the hurdy-gurdy who invents a delightfully offbeat future, intoxicating, dreamlike ...»
Yvonnig Siné
(Les Infos-Redon - décembre 2015)

From India to Central Africa through Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Bulgaria, the concert and the album "Dounia" take us to a sometimes arid, sometimes lush universe. It reveals the full extent and the rich sound of the hurdy-gurdy.

Gurvan LIARD transcends this ancient instrument and takes him beyond his usual tone. The
hurdy-gurdy is transformed and becomes Armenian duduk, Egyptian rebab, Malian ngoni and even low or saturated electric guitar ...

Reworked, disoriented, it is an
hybrid hurdy-gurdy that overcomes the boundaries and speaks of universality.

All compositions Gurvan LIARD are essentially made with a hurdy-wheel electro-acoustic, sound effects and loops (looper).

Her first album named "Dounia" was released in December 2015 and is distributed by Coop Breizh.
